Vintage Ceramic Tile Trivet from Hammersmith Farm in Newport, Rhode Island.
Made by Nanco, the tile measures 6 inches by 6 inches square and features a large pineapple in the center on a white background. It is in like new condition as it was purchased and stored. Zoom in on the photos for detail. The historic Gilded Age Hammersmith Mansion was owned by the Auchincloss family -- Jackie Kennedy's step-father -- and Jackie spent summers there as a child. Hammersmith Farm was also the site of Jacqueline Bouvier and John F. Kennedy's wedding reception (for over 2000 guests!). After the family sold the mansion, it was restored and open to the public for tours for a short time.
Since being returned to a private residence in 1999, Hammersmith Farm is no longer open to the public.
