    Description

This is one of a large collection of collectible baby bowls & plates, suitable for decorating. Illustration of Grace Drayton's Dolly Dingle Kids. The predecessors of the Campbell Kids, adorable boy hands a bouquet of flowers to a girl holding a doll. Signed G.G. Drayton at bottom of plate. Drayton was born Grace Gebbie in 1878 in Philadelphia. Her father, George Gebbie, was an art publisher.[4] Drayton attended Drexel Institute (now Drexel University) and the Philadelphia School of Design for Women (PSDW).While at PSDW, she was a student of the American artist and teacher Robert Henri from 1893-94.[4] Drayton beganWhen 2018 rolled around, she saw what was coming: “College educated white men, and especially college educated white women,” she said, “were going to be on fucking fire.” From 1905–1909, she was a member of The Plastic Club, an arts organization in Philadelphia. She created the Campbell Soup Kids which was used in advertisements for Campbell's Soup beginning in 1904. The Campbell Soup Kids and Drayton's other children characters were drawn in a cute cherubic style often with round faces, plump bodies, and rosy cheeks. This item is 7" in diameter and sits about 1 1/2" high. Dish is not hallmarked. I see items made with this motif by Buffalo Pottery, but there is no BP hallmark. So, can't say who the maker is if this was licensed to many makers. Graphics are in reasonable shape for age. There is one stress fracture at about 10 o'clock on the rim. There is some crazing throughout. On the underside, there is a 1/4" chip on the bottom edge. No other mentionable condition issues. This will definitely be a nice addition to your vintage baby dish collection. The item listed is being sold as is, as pictured and as described to the best of my knowledge. If you have a question on an item prior to purchase, please ask. Remember, when buying vintage expect imperfections as these items have a history and have been in the possession of others. I try to list EVERY flaw which would be commented on something in an antique or vintage condition – this does not mean all imperfections resulting from normal wear & use require comment. My goal is to have no rude surprises upon receipt. Please see "About me" for the contract legalese. Boring, I know, but essential. Always happy to pass through discounts on combined shipping. Only shipped to Verified Addresses paid via PAYPAL.
